We can arrange at a cost of $60 from Clayton area or $100 from Peninsula area. Note: You may qualify for Monash Uni pickup at http://www.monash.edu.au/study/international/prepare/airport-reception.html WHAT IS meant by convenient walking distance to university? A. We consider less than 15minutes walk to university gates as convenient. WHAT public transport are there? A. Most areas, there will be bus and train to Melbourne city. In Burwood, there is tram service. In essence, most residents can get about using public transport and without the added expense of a car. WHAT IF we book for 1 semester only? A. Our standard term is 2 semester, however pending availability if we allow 1 semester booking, there will be additional surcharge of $5 per week, to cover cost of re-letting the room. HOW TO book a room? A. Prior to arrival, place an initial deposit (instructions via email) to confirm reservation of desired room. Upon arrival, should you decide against taking the allocated room, your initial deposit amount received in our account, is fully refundable. If you proceed, your initial deposit becomes your bond payment. At check-in, you are required to pay for your room rental (monthly fee) in advance. Rental is collected monthly. We recommend to read the following http://www.monash.edu.au/study/international/prepare/ HOW TO calculate the monthly rental rate per calendar month?? A. In Australia, we calculate per calendar month for the reason some months are five weeks and others are four weeks per month. The formula is amount/wk multiply by 52wks/yr divided by 12mth/yr = $amount/per calendar month. (For example - $110/wk x 52 divide by 12 = $477 per calendar month) WHAT IS the distance to university or bus loop? A. We recommend Google Map (maps.google.com) and type in the house address to see an aerial-view. HOW TO get to Caulfield campus? A. There is a Monash-operated shuttle bus service from Clayton campus (Main depot). The shuttle bus service regularly travels to Caulfield, as there is a large number of Caulfield students residing in Clayton. WHAT IS there to do on the weekend, local activities? A. Peninsula is a seaside location, thus a variety of water sports, fishing, boating, jogging is popular. Clayton and Burwood is a suburban area, thus the sport facility at university offers a variety of sporting games and exercise. There is the local supermarket and asian grocery shop to replenish the pantry for the week. There is always a buzz to visit the city as there is always something going on at Melbourne city. Sightseeing tours can be arranged at various travel agents. Joining local clubs (activity or sporting) will fill your calendar all too quickly. WHAT IF we leave Australia for summer break (Nov - Feb)? A. Different contract terms for varying properties. For example, at Peninsula, the serviced guesthouse is closed to long stay residents during summer, and opens for short stay visitors. Other properties will charge basic room rental and omit the utility cost, which is $20 per week per room, and $30 per week for units. |
